Anthony Navetta finance question

I am back on Quora, and I once again drew on my years of teaching experience to answer a question about advice for what someone needs to learn in the summer before they start college. There were a few answers already that spoke about time management and other helpful skills like speed reading, but nobody had brought up financial management so I added a blurb about that. Here is my answer:

Time management is a great suggestion and I will add financial management. Take a look at how much money you have saved, what income if any you have come in each month, what month-by-month expenses you have, and make a budget so that you are using your money efficiently.

If you are taking out a loan to go to college, then factor in payments on the loan into your monthly plan. Student loan debt is a huge problem today and many students do not realize that by being frugal in college and/or having a part time job, they will be able to pay off a lot of what they borrow before they graduate.
